Thanksgiving Cranberry Sauce

Time: 20 minutes

Serves: 12-16

Ingreidnets:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • Options: pecans, orange zest, raisins, currants, blueberries, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice

Directions:

  1. Rinse cranberries.
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a boil. Stir to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Add the cranberries and bring to a boil again. Reduce the heat and let the cranberries simmer until they burst, approximately 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the optional toppings.
  5. Let the cranberry sauce cool completely at room temperature and then refrigerate. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.

Notes:

  • I like to add half a cup of chopped pecans and a pinch of orange zest.
